Lo, the Beijing scene: 北京风光，

A hundred leagues in blurring haze , 千里朦胧，

A thousand leagues of floating dust . 万里尘飘，

Around the 3rd ring road 望三环内外，

A stretch of thick fog white. 浓雾莽莽，

The Beijing’s Bird Nest 鸟巢上下，

Shrouded in gray depressed. 阴霾滔滔！

Rolls of cars like snakes creep 车舞长蛇，

Runways in smog locked deep, 烟锁跑道，

Vying on the 6th ring road. 欲上六环把车飙，

Only fine days can cars be dipped 需晴日, 将车身

Within and without wiped. 内外,尽心洗扫。

 

The air is terrible, like dusk, 空气如此糟糕，

And beauties are wearing mask. 引无数美女戴口罩,

Alas! the make-up, painted face 惜一罩掩面，

Is not showing its graces. 白化妆了！

Pairs and pairs of eyes mere 唯露双眼，

Hard to their charm peer; 难判风骚。

And the Heaven-favored 一代天骄，

CCTV's Pant-shaped Tower, 央视裤衩，

Only its buttocks seen clear. 只见后座不见腰。
